Abstract:
In 2006, Germany's low fertility rate aroused public interest. Religiosity, as a reproductive factor, was omitted to mention by the media. On the basis of several national und international surveys, I affirm a statistical connection between reproduction and religiosity. And religious commitment was one of the most important ones. 15 group discussions several religious groups' postulate a normative consensus about the "correct" number of children in a family. Surprisingly, it was a social consensus and and the fact that children are a part of religious people's personality. Now, I could explain teh reproductive difference between religious and non-religious people. Religious people get children more often than non-religious people. The number of children is similar. In the last 30 years, secularization in Germany was so strong that the higher nuber of children of religious people has no demographic consequences.
