dc.description.abstract Though it has long been submerged in the flood of publications that poured forth from the mid-century presses and probably has been lost the more readily because its author chose to remain anonymous, Marcus Tullius Cicero is a good play to read and know about. The essay argues that it tells Cicero's story with gravity, dignity, and skill, and that it also may be read as an expression of the antimonarchic feeling of a much later time. en
