Abstract:
Clubs, sporting organisations and Olympic centres are, to a great degree, reliant on the high quality of the coaching activity. In order to work at a high level, coaches need suitable working conditions and facilities. However, not every club, sports association or Olympic centre can provide this.
Focusing on the specific characteristics of high performance sport organisations, this dissertation will deal with the question: To what degree is high quality management of coaching achievable in high performance sport organisations. The approach of this dissertation is based on system theory and constructivism.
Drawing upon the findings of previous research, this dissertation is organised into three sections: (1) Firstly, the (theoretical) construct of quality management of coaching in high performance sport organisations will be described. (2) Secondly, based on the findings of the first step, the conditions and processes that influence the quality of the coaching activity are described. (3) The third step will discuss how the conditions for high quality of coaching activity in high performance sport organisations can be established in a permanent manner. The central findings of the dissertation lead to ten propositions for quality management for coaching in high performance sport organisations.
