Abstract:
OBJECTIVE: To assess parameters of left ventricular function using a multidetector-row computer tomography (MDCT) with ecg-gating and to compare the results with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).
MATERIALS AND METHODS: The parameters of left ventricular function were checked in 53 patients with coronary heart disease or suspected of having coronary heart disease. End-diastolic-volume (EDV), end-systolic-volume (ESV) and ejection-fraction (EF) were calculated based on CT data sets. The results from MDCT were compared with the data of cardiac MRI.
RESULTS: EF (r = 0,81), EDV (r = 0,86) und ESV (r = 0,91) showed a strong correlation between MDCT and MRI. EF had no significant difference (p = 0,15).
CONCLUSIONS: MDCT offers a strong correlation of leftventricular function parameters to the goldstandard MRI.
